RIO TINTO

Working with leadership from NZ Aluminium Smelter (Tiwai) and local iwi group – to facilitate a design process between both groups, to work out how to get to mutually beneficial objectives and outcomes.

NEW ZEALAND NURSES ORGANIATION

NZNO Board approached me to conduct a research audit of the organisation to identify the extent of structural, institutional and personal racism within the organisation. I then worked with a team of ‘champions’ within the organisation, to identify next steps as a result of the research findings, and support them to implement the identified actions.

MINISTRY OF EDUCATION

I completed a research project with Ministry of Education to review the provision of te reo Māori in schools currently in Southland. This included initiating a series of meetings with parents and community to identify their aspirations for the future with regards to te reo Māori in schools.

SOUTHERN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

I was contracted (fixed term/part time) as the General Manager – Māori Development at the Southern Institute of Technology. It was a newly created role to design and implement initiatives to advance outcomes for Māori students. The role was focused on building closer relationships with mana whenua and fostering Māori development across the organisation, to ensure positive outcomes for students.

I was contracted to help peer-review a new student support initiative and provide ongoing advice and guidance regarding potential new opportunities within the programme.

NZEI / TE RIU ROA

I am currently working with the Union’s leadership to advise them on the Institute’s Māori initiatives and direction, to support further development of their current position, and work collaboratively to co-design new possibilities.

TE AKATEA MĀORI PRINCIPALS’ ASSOCIATION

I was contracted to design a completely new, deliberately Māori programme for Emerging Māori Leadership in schools, for Te Akatea to deliver in the future. The contract included the initial concept design, programme structure, budget and links to current local and international education research.

DIOCESAN SCHOOL FOR GIRLS - AUCKLAND

Diocesan School set their sights set on implementing their own ‘Mātauranga Māori’ plan in 2021. My work was to provide professional development to staff in 2020 to support the successful implementation of their Mātauranga Māori plan, and to broaden staff awareness of Māori language, values and content in the school.

ENGINEERING NEW ZEALAND

I was contracted to design a strategy programme of work for Engineering NZ’s current Board and Executive Team, to assist the organisation with their commitment to increasing awareness of Māori values and tikanga Māori.

TE PŪTEA WHAKATUPU TRUST

I was contracted as the Lead Project Designer - to design and deliver to Te Pūtea Whakatupu Trust, a two year Associate Directorship programme called He Tukutuku Koiora.

AKO MĀTĀTUPU / TEACH FIRST NZ

I have worked with Ako Mātātupu / Teach First NZ - to assist them to establish their own Ako Mātātupu Tertiary College, and provide advice and guidance to design an applied teaching qualification to meet NZQA approval standards. I remain a member of their Academic Advisory Board.
